The Stoney Creek Warriors earned a 6-4 win Feb. 11 over the Fort Erie Meteors that hopefully helped heal their bruised egos after a 9-1 loss to St. Catharines Feb. 9 and a 7-0 loss to Niagara Falls Feb. 10.
In Fort Erie, Mike Casale scored first for the Warriors from Harry Polyoka and Kyle Dube. Fort Erie scored twice in the first to make it 2-1.
Just more than a minute into the second, Brandon Elliott netted one for the Warriors from Roger Sherwood and Myles Falasca.
Fort Erie scored at 7:28 of the second, followed by two from Stoney Creek from Luke Nogard (Jake Milligan, Max Lindsay) and Lindsay (Sherwood.
In the third, Fort Erie made it 5-3 before Falasca scored for the Warriors from Sherwood and Elliott. At the last second Casale scored his second for the Warriors from Joseph Monticchio and Lindsay to close the game.
The Warriors travel to Thorold Feb. 16 to battle the Blackhawks before welcoming Buffalo to Valley Park Saturday, Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m.
As of press time, the Warriors sat in sixth place in the Golden Horseshoe Conference of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League with 31 points.
