The Dundas Nine-0 Tyke Blues had a busy weekend with a home-and-home exhibition series against one of their Tri-County rivals, the Milton Winterhawks. The Blues split the series with a 7-3 road loss and a 8-6 home victory.
On Saturday, the Blues travelled to Milton where the Winterhawks burst out in the first and second periods to score five goals.
Kael Andrew found the net at the end of the second with a beautiful helper from Kai Sulentic. The duo repeated the scoring action in the third period, and then Martin VandenHeuvel scored off a face-off. Unfortunately, this final push wasn’t enough.
Sunday was a new day for the Blues as Declan Forth opened the scoring blitz in the first three minutes of the game. The Winterhawks answered goal for goal, but this time it was too little too late as the Blues secured an 8-6 victory. Goal scorers for the weekend included Andrew, Martin VandenHeuvel, Forth, Coy Gordon and Christopher Cheeseman. Helpers went to Sulentic, Andrew, Coy Gordon, Forth and Matthew Taylor. Defensive standouts included Sean Tutt and Zachary Klapman. Staying strong between the pipes were Alex Gazzola and Adam Edwards.
