The Cardinal Newman Cardinals won their third straight Hamilton Catholic high school senior boys title Thursday night.

The Cards beat St. Jean de Brebeuf 56-43 to win the crown.

Newman’s Marko Grahovic led all shooters with 16 points. Rommel Calura, Mark Douglin and Lucas Johnson of the Braves had 10 points each.

Cardinal Newman will host Halton champion Nelson on Monday at 7 p.m. for the GHAC quad-A title and a berth at OFSAA, which will be in Mississauga March 3-5.

In the junior championship, the Braves surprised the top-ranked Cardinals 64-45. Sony Cruz had 15 points for the Braves; Tyrell Hebert had 15 for the Cards.

Cathedral, led by Isaiah Joseph with 13 points, beat Brebeuf 43-29 for the midget title. Jacob Walczak had eight points for the Braves.
