Junior hockey squad grabs first place
Call the Hamilton Red Wings the Come Back Kids.
The Red Wings trailed Orangeville 2-0 after the first period on home ice on Monday nigth before coming back for an 8-4 win.
It was the Red Wings fourth win a row and moved the club, at least temporarily, into first place in the OJHL West Division.
With eight wins, including a shootout victory, the Red Wings have eclipsed last year’s win total of five games.
In Toronto on Sunday the Junior Canadiens grabbed a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes before Hamilton came back to edge the home side 5-4.
On the road in Cobourg last Saturday afternoon the Red Wings, with the extra attacker, scored the tying goal with 10 seconds to play in the third period and went on to a 3-2 shootout win over the Cougars.
The Red Wings next action is on Thanksgiving Monday when they host Georgetown.
Game time is 7:30 p.m. at the Dave Andreychuk-Mountain Arena.
