Penguins cap incredible season with championship

The AMHL Bantam Curly Willow Floral Boutique Penguins capped an unbelievable season on Saturday by defeating the Bantam champions from Chedoke 4-2 to win the Hamilton city playdowns.

After finishing the regular season in last place with a 3-10-2 record, the Penguins began their march by winning the AMHL Bantam division playoffs, where they went undefeated in seven games.  The team then went on to the city playdowns, where they put together a streak of four wins, capped by an exciting final.

Supported by many Ancaster fans, the Penguins jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Mark Randazzo and Andrew Ciuffreda.

After Chedoke drew to within one, the Penguins increased their lead with a short-handed goal by Andrew, with another goal by Mark to solidify the win.

Throughout their end-of-season streak of 14 games without a loss, the Penguins received stellar goaltending from Kieran Graham, who played behind a stout defence and a group of forwards who dedicated themselves to team defence.

Coaches Warren Russell and Jay Milne and trainer Graham Stephen are very proud of the hard work and dedication the team showed in finishing the fantastic season.
