Minor midgets strike gold

The Stoney Creek  Minor Midget Select Bruins took the division title at the Barrie Minor Hockey Association’s select tournament, which ran from March 28-30.

The boys played three great games and overcame many obstacles.  They even came back from a 5-2 deficit in Friday’s game to pull out a 5-5 tie and won the the other two games in regulation, as well as the final.

The championship game on Sunday was a 5-2 win against Barrie, made possible thanks to hard work and great goaltending.  The banner will be  hung in an arena other than Barrie’s for the first time in many years.  The boys also received gold medals.

Visiting teams came from Halton Hills, Richmond Hill, Barrie, Stoney Creek and many others.
