Former Washington Capitals goaltending draft pick Daren Machensey.

McCoys add two more former pros to lineup

Larry Robertson, Special to The News

Dundas Real McCoys president and general manager Don Robertson has signed two more former National Hockey League players in preparation for the McCoys bid to win the 2014 Allan Cup Trophy in April in Dundas.

The McCoys host the week-long tournament from April 14 to 19 at J.L. Grightmire Arena.

Robertson recently inked deals with former Montreal Canadiens and Hamilton Bulldogs forward Greg Stewart and former Washington Capitals goaltending draft pick Daren Machensey.

Machensey played for three seasons with the Hershey Bears in the American Hockey League. He also had stints with the Manitoba Moose, Springfield Falcons, and Worster Sharks.

Stewart played parts of three seasons with the Canadiens between 2008 and 2010. He also played for the Chicago Wolves and the Oklahoma City Barons in the AHL. He was a member of the Belfast Giants in the Elite Ice Hockey League in 2012-13.

“Greg will add experience and enthusiasm to our lineup, while Machensey adds depth to our already strong goaltending combination of Mike Mole and Bryan Worosz,” said Robertson.
