The Sir Allan MacNab Lions have won their first Hamilton public high school senior boys basketball title in three years.
The Lions downed the Saltfleet Storm 57-41, the senior team’s first city title since the 2010-11 season, when they also defeated the Storm.
Nolan Narain led the Lions with 20 points; Sheldon McIntosh had 18. Woods Brown was the top scorer for the Storm with 14.
The Lions advance to OFSAA quad-A championship in Mississauga, March 3-5. Saltfleet heads to the SOSSA triple-A championship on where they will play Governor Simcoe (St. Catharines) on Thursday.
The junior Lions also won, beating Westdale 70-40 for their fourth-straight Hamilton Wentworth Interscholastic Athletic Council title (the crown wasn’t contested last year because of a labour dispute). The junior squad has not lost a league game in five years.
In Division 2, Sir John A. Macdonald won both titles. The seniors beat Waterdown 50-42, while the juniors beat G.P. Vanier 54-39.
