St. Thomas More and Academie Catholique Mere-Teresa won their respective finals at the 42nd Silver Fox Invitational senior boys basketball tournament.
ACMT won the Joe Raso final, beating St. Ignatius of Loyola (Oakville) 72-53. Nickan Sahlollbey had 21 points for the Jaguars. Hammad Nessek earned a place on the tournament’s first all-star team. The Jaguars lost on a buzzer beater 65-64 to Bishop MacDonell in their first game of the tourney (Nessek led with 19 points), but earned their spot in the final after clipping STM 51-50 in their second game of the tournament. Nessek had 21 points; Joel Clarke led the Knights with 15 points.
The Knights edged Cathedral 48-45 to take the MacLean Newton title. Clarke had 22 points. He was also named a second-team all-star for the tournament. The Knights trounced St. Paul (Niagara Falls) 55-26 in their opening game (Clarke and Matt Brown had 13 points each).
In the main Silver Fox final, Holy Trinity (Oakville) beat St. Marguerite D’Youville (Brampton) 53-44.
