The Highland Senior girls’ waterpolo team earned a bronze medal at championship night.
The match proved to be very exciting with the Hawks defeating Ancaster 3-2 in quadruple overtime.
Leading the way for Highland was Elise Hoernke with two goals, including the winner off the post.
Opening the scoring was Paige Tate, who had a huge night, winning every swim-off she was involved in. Kaitlin Pansegrau and Nicole Hughes were tenacious on defence and Mel Renshaw was a force in the net.
Earlier in the evening, the Junior team fell 5-1 in their bronze medal match with Kyndra Hughes the lone goal scorer.
The championships marked the third year in a row the girls’ program at Highland has come away with a waterpolo medal.
