District 22 (Wentworth) recently competed in the Golden Horseshoe 55+ Regional Games in Milton.
Four other districts (Halton, Brantford, Hamilton and Niagara) also competed in the one-day event. There were about 180 competitors with 26 competing for Wentworth.
In duplicate bridge, the north-south team of Ted Seager and Don Bell won¸ with Maureen and Cameron Clarke coming in second. The east-west team of Ray Hopkins and Earl Haystead placed third.
Trevor Jones, Betty Wyatt and Rick Sandilands placed third in lawn bowling. In the 75+ prediction walk, Herman Schoettler won, with Marie Baehrle taking second in the 1.6-kilometre event. In the 3-kilometre prediction walk, Paul Goddard had a second-place finish. Goddard also won gold in the event at the provincial games last summer. Linda May Hinsch took a third in this same event.
Also competing were Anne Goddard, Wilma Groen, Ken Boyko and Larry Shelton in golf, along with Grady and Rene Ducroix, Marty and Josie Venne in euchre. Cribbage players included Alan Arseneau and Ray Oakley, while Laverne Thomson, Eleanor Daub, Lynn and Bob Bates tested their bid euchre skills.
