Couple runs 10 kilometres each to help a friend

With a little help from some friends, Scott Wilbur has crossed another item off his bucket list.

Wilbur, with Cindy and Kevin Little, completed the recent Around the Bay Race in two hours, 52 minutes and finished first out of five three-man relay teams from Ancaster.

Wilbur signed up to run the Around the Bay race when registration first opened last year. But on March 17, he was diagnosed with a tumor just above his left ankle. On the same foot, he also started suffering from plantar faciitis and an Achilles injury.

Although he had been training for the race since September, Wilbur planned to back out.   Friend and breast cancer survivor Cindy and her husband Kevin immediately stepped up to lend a hand. Both avid runners, the Littles offered to run the three-man relay with Wilbur.  The group participated in the over-50 age category with impressive results.
