Brandon Chong won’t soon forget his season debut with the Hamilton Cardinals Minor Bantam AAA.
On May 1 Chong pitched a perfect game against the the Niagara Falls Giants.
It was opening night for the Cardinals at their new Ball park at Heritage Green where Brandon Chong got the start after a strong spring. It was a low scoring affair for the first five innings and Brandon was making quick work of the opposition. After five innings Brandon had thrown only 54 pitches without surrendering a walk or a hit.
The Cardinals had a 3 – 0 lead at that point but blew the game open with a five- run bottom of the fifth.
With the game well in hand the focus of Brandon’s teammates became his incredible outing. With the help of his catcher, Mitchell Rossit, and the rest of the team, Brandon mowed through the opposition and ended up throwing a seven- inning perfect game in a 10–0 win.
Brandon’s total pitch count was an incredibly low 74 pitches in total.
