Day 4 of the 2014 Allan Cup Senior AAA Championship gets underway today at 3:30 p.m. when the Allan Cup Hockey champion Brantford Blast face Alberta’s Chinook Hockey League, Bentley Generals. This marks the first of two quarter-final match-ups taking place today.
The Brantford Blast finished their preliminary round with one win from the tournament’s opening game on Monday against the Kenora Thistles (won game 5-4). Yesterday they lost their afternoon game 6-2 against the Newfoundland Senior Hockey League Clarenville Caribous.
The Bentley Generals have remained winless throughout the tournament so far. After dropping their first game 6-2 against host team Dundas Real McCoys, the Generals failed to register a point last night in a 3-1 defeat by the South East Prairie Thunder (Western).
Tonight’s other quarter-final match-up, begins at 7:30 p.m. and features the Kenora Thistles from Hockey Northern Ontario taking on the South East Prairie Thunder.
The Kenora Thistles find themselves winless heading into tonight’s match-up. Their loss on Monday to the Brantford Blast was followed by a Tuesday loss to the Clarenville Caribous 5-2.
The South East Prairie Thunder lost a tough 4-3 battle against the Dundas Real McCoys on Day 1. They did manage to register a 3-1 win over the Generals last night to give them home ice advantage heading into tonight’s contest.
