Paris to Ancaster Bike Race raises funds for Milton Velodrome

Ancaster News

More than $37,000 has been donated toward the Milton Velodrome from the 21st annual Paris to Ancaster (P2A) Bike Race.

Known for its difficult route that takes riders in unpredictable spring weather over some of the roughest farm lanes, trails and gravel roads in southern Ontario, P2A appeals to all levels of cyclists from pros to recreational riders.

“We knew we wanted to support our cycling community by donating to the construction of the Milton Veledrome, as we are all looking forward to the new facility,” said John Thorpe, co-chair of P2A. “We are thrilled by the funds we’ve been able to raise through the new VIP experience. Its success has far exceeded our expectations. We hope to grow our contribution even more next year.”

As part of last year’s 20th anniversary, organizers introduced the VIP experience, where entrants can race in an elite wave with former Olympian cyclists, plus enjoy other VIP perks. The VIP experience was so successful P2A organizers brought it back this year and together with sponsors and individual donations, the support to the Velodrome almost doubled.
