Volunteers spruce up community

Thanks to all of the many volunteers who turned out to clean up Lower Spencer Creek on April 14 and also the Girl Guides who, on April 16, conducted a similar cleanup along Cootes Drive, along with any others who have conducted their own clean-ups of other areas.

Collectively, we were able to help remove many dozens of bags of waste that littered our community. My appreciation goes to all who took the time to assist.

With spring arriving, there are a couple of things that you can do to improve pedestrian travel and reduce the potential for street flooding. I would suggest that when you’re out doing the pruning in your yard that you trim back any overhead branches or overgrown shrubbery that could impede walkers. Also please ensure any accumulated debris on catch basins is removed so storm water can readily drain away.
