Ontario budget should go back to the drawing board

Dalton McGuinty’s Liberals want the teachers and doctors to curtail any wage increases. Now how dumb and unhealthy is that? I’m not an educator nor physician, just a retired construction worker who is thankful for the quality of education I received and quality of health care I am receiving.
The United States has the lowest level of public education of all the developed nations due to constant funding cuts. Is Premier McGuinty trying to turn Ontario into the 51st state?
Politicians make double what teachers earn, have an enviable pension they can collect at an early age and have no limits to the number or sick or vacation days to which they feel entitled. Why don’t they bite the bullet and take a pay cut?
Doctors are our necessity for life. They deserve what they earn and more. Accountants and CEOs for large corporations can make three times a doctor’s wage and all they do is find ways their companies will pay little or no tax. Why not tax them at a higher rate? Next time you feel ill, would you call a corporate executive?
When we vote in a minority government, the rules should be altered to allow the government to last four years as intended. A negative vote would not bring down the government. With a free vote, politicians would have to work together to find a solution for the betterment of their constituents, not their party or their special interest groups.
If this was the case and Finance Minister Dwight Duncan’s budget did not pass, he would have to go back to the drawing board and listen to the opposition’s suggestions and compromise.
We do not need another election. Just work it out. That’s why we hired you, remember?
