Have you enjoyed your summer? Have you been able to take your family to the little piece of heaven that has, for many years, provided the community with something for every age group; with it green grass, magnificent trees, climbing apparatus, splash pad, lawn bowling, tennis courts, free concerts and an exercise circuit.
I am referring, of course, to the Dundas Driving Park.
As you walk away from all the pleasures the park has to offer, please remember the staff who maintain this space for our pleasure. You may not see them as they work almost invisibly, cleaning up and keeping the park shipshape.
You may not know who oversees this area for our enjoyment. You may not even know the hours this particular person dedicates of his own free will. He stays late into the day and comes in even on his vacation.
It is amazing to see the level of commitment this person has for the park. He is supervisor Kevin Blain. Stop and talk to Kevin, he is always there, making sure everything is top notch.
Last year he helped our organization plant a memory tree and stone to honour those who have lost their lives to suicide.
Kevin was so sensitive to our needs as he guided us through the process. He even showed up on the Saturday — his vacation week — to make sure everything was perfect for the ceremony.
We are lucky to have Kevin, and as you take in all the activities the park has to offer, please offer words of gratitude for the people who keep it beautiful
Thanks also to you Lisa, for planting flowers around the commemorative trees and again to Kevin as he works diligently to restore commemorative gardens.
