Recent letters about parking fees show that people will not go to an area if an undue charge is added.
If it’s not parking meters and user fees, like the one proposed for the Hamilton Conservation Areas, it brings a national problem to light.
The federal government is trying to find ways to get people to come back to the National Parks after implementing high user fees and parking fees in the last 20 years.
People have been scared away from the national park system due to high cost and a major study costing a lot of money has begun to find the problem. All they have to do is have an easy, less costly way for people to return to the park system.
After all, Candiains own this system. All governments seem to download costs of their mismanagement to the public.
It’s not the fault of the public, who are finding it more diffcult all of the time to find the cash to pay for the errors of managemnt of public facilities.
User fees for parking, toll roads and parks do not promote usage. They discourage use and enjoyment unless your pocket is full of cash
