It’s time to think of golf

With daily cold advisories and a foot of snow on the ground, it’s hard to believe I am extending an invitation to Mission Services 10th Annual Charity Golf Tournament with Hamilton Community News.

So far, our 10 year partnership with Hamilton Community News has resulted in proceeds of $219,035. This year, we hope to add $50,000 to that total to improve the lives of the most vulnerable residents in our city.

Many people think of us as a shelter or a place for a free meal. But Mission Services is much more than a meal. A meal is just an entry point for an entire menu of services and programs designed to transform lives hurt by poverty.

This winter, we’ve seen increased demand at our emergency shelter and our nutrition centre. Our clothing distribution centre is also seeing a big rise in the number of people who need winter jackets, warm undergarments and good boots.

By participating at our Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Hidden Lake, you will have a chance to impact the lives of people living in poverty in our own city.

Join me and the Hamilton Community News team on May 1, to help make our city a better place to live for everyone. You can register online at or call us at 905-528-4211 ext. 130.

Remember, this year’s $200 fee is all inclusive, steak dinner, lunch, mulligans, raffle ticket and putting contest.

Don’t let the ice and snow get you down. Think spring and the 10th Annual Mission Services/Hamilton Community News Annual Charity Golf Tournament.

Hope to see you on May 1.

Carol Cowan,
Acting Executive Director, Mission Services
