LETTER: Trustees need to consider Paul Brown’s name for school

re: Nora’s name could be prominent again (Feb. 27)
I was surprised to read that the submissions for Paul M. Brown Secondary School are not being considered by the committee even though there were so many of them. Stating that they were not considered as the committee didn’t feel the community would not accept it is unfair.
As you are all aware, Paul Brown passed away December 2012. Paul M. Brown Secondary School would be the most fitting tribute.
Filling out the nomination request was very emotional. Reflecting on my impression of Paul Brown in the 20 plus years I knew him was easy to express but challenging as he is missed greatly by so many of us across the community.
Paul Brown was someone who would only see the positive in things. He always found ways to connect with every person he came in contact with. When a student was feeling defeated, he always had encouraging words and the ability to make you feel inspired to carry on and believe in yourself.
The community of Hamilton and beyond would be proud to see his name remembered for years to come. I strongly believe that Paul M. Brown fits all the criteria outlined in the board’s school naming policy.
Please show your support and name the new Mountain high school Paul M. Brown Secondary School.
