LETTER: Linden Park the loser in a proximity war

In regards to the closure of Linden Park School, I don’t think it had been recognized how the small school also shares within its boundaries a French immersion school and a Catholic school.
The issue with the proximity of the three schools is that people who live between Upper Wellington and Upper James can send their children to the other two schools. Due to the walking distance from their home, and perhaps the programs they provide as well, they do. The fate of the little school with a big heart may have been different had there been more bus availability and programs to match what is offered elsewhere, levelling the playing field.
We all want a school that is walkable, close to home and that fits our needs. Unfortunately, it seems that the families of Linden Park will lose theirs come June 2015.
Long live Linden in our hearts.
