Notwithstanding your faith, we all make that extra effort to get together and celebrate this special time of year and to be grateful for and understanding of everything that has transpired in the past year.
From my family to yours, we trust that you had a very Merry Christmas and wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year as we head into 2014…and thank you for joining me to try out your new skates at my annual Boxing Day Skate at the J.L.Grightmire Arena.

The Rotary Skating Rink in the Dundas Driving Park is now operational. The food concession and a skate rental are open daily from 10 a.m., closing (weather permitting).
Also, I want to extend thanks to the neighbourhood volunteers who have taken it upon themselves, in association with the city, to construct and maintain natural ice rinks in Sanctuary, Little John and Witherspoon parks. Dundas Community Services has a program to assist those physically unable to clear their snow. Call DCS at 905-627-5461 to register. Young or young-at-heart volunteers are also needed to provide this service.

With the arrival of winter weather conditions, the City of Hamilton Bylaw No. 03-290 requires the occupants and owners of all homes, buildings, businesses and properties throughout the city to remove snow and ice from sidewalks abutting their properties within 24 hours of the cessation of a snowfall. It is also illegal to place or throw snow and ice onto a roadway as it may interfere with traffic movement and cause an accident.

A couple of Sundays ago, I attended the Dundas Concert Band Christmas Concert. The well-attended audience enjoyed an afternoon of Xmas favourites and some surprises. The concert band hosts 15 concerts throughout the year, including their weekly summer concert series in the Dundas Driving Park. The Community of Dundas is well-served musically by our three groups — the Dundas Pipe Band, the Dundas Valley Orchestra and the DCB.
