Re: Lazy, ignorant adults in City of Pigs need to explain slovenly actions
Bravo to the author of this letter to the editor regarding the cowardly and disrespectful act of throwing garbage on his lawn and elsewhere. Everyone who read that letter would be able to hear the anger in the author’s words, and there are many that share this anger.
Those of us who grew up in Dundas and have returned after living elsewhere are finding the lack of regard by some for the natural beauty of this area pretty hard to take.
There has to be more awareness around the act of littering.
Biology and science tell us that we have evolved as a species and we exist on this particular planet only by chance. It is because of the right combination of elements in the air and through the trees providing oxygen and photosynthesis taking place that we were given this chance.
Polluting only damages this process.
Why do we feel we can pollute our only home?
I’m sure as the Earth was forming millions of years ago, it had no plans for deep ocean drilling or millions of plastic water bottles being thrown into the water that is sustaining us.
I don’t know what the solution is, but we need to stop thinking it’s someone else’s job to keep our planet clean. We all need to pick things up that we see lying on the ground.
I know it doesn’t stop those who are littering from doing it but perhaps it won’t make that area seem like a dumping ground.
When things are happening at 3 a.m., it’s a little more complicated, but maybe there could be a part of the police force dedicated to this?
We’ve got to start taking things like this more seriously. And this is not to disregard all of those out there who are taking this seriously.
Thank you for everything you are doing.
The holidays are coming, and with it, mountains of trash. In the true spirit of the holidays, let’s really give to the planet we call Earth.
And stop throwing your trash out the window or we’ll boot you off the planet and see how you do in outer space.
