Brenda Johnson, Councillor, Ward 11
Fruitland-Winona (SCUBE) Secondary Plans will have another public hearing on Nov. 19, 2013 as part of the planning committee for the City of Hamilton. The planning committee has decided to make an exception and hold this meeting at the Stoney Creek Municipal Building, 777 Hwy. 8 at Jones Road, starting at 9:30 a.m.
Due to the timing of the recent approval of the City of Hamilton’s urban boundary by the province, a second public hearing is required for the Fruitland-Winona Secondary Plans. This means that the planning committee will meet and hear the concerns of the residents and then make a recommendation to council for final approval of the secondary plans. If you are interested in attending this meeting and would like to be registered for the speakers list, please contact Vanessa Robichaud in the clerks department. Vanessa can be reached at 905-546-2424, ext. 2729 or by email at Vanessa.Robicheau@hamilton.ca.
I’ve been getting a number of requests for an update on the commercial development at South Service Road and Fifty Road. The developer has advised as recent as this month that both Walmart and Costco are the anchor tenants. They are getting all the studies done and assuming there are no complications, we are hoping for a shovel in the ground this spring.
This is just a reminder to all those interested in volunteering to assist with the Winona Park outdoor skate rink. Behind every successful rink is a great bunch of volunteers and any time you can spare would be appreciated. Just let me know and I’ll pass your name along to the local resident volunteer co-ordinator.
As you clean up your leaves this fall, please keep an eye on water catch basins, ditches, culverts or other areas that help move the water along. If you see a blockage on city property that needs clearing, just let me know and I’ll let our roads crew put it on their to do list. If you are aware of a local community not-for-profit event happening in Ward 11, please let me know and I’ll promote it on the web calendar of my ward 11 web page, www.brendajohnson.ca.
As always, should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at 905-546-4513 or by email at Brenda.Johnson@hamilton.ca
