Crying in your soup

Ursula Ewald, Ancaster

What goes around comes around.

I’m not a shrinking violet, however with the weather, winter blahs and the mounting years, I count myself blessed for living in a very caring  neighbourhood for the past 20 years.

Give and you shall receive. It still exists, believe it or not!

What’s in a bowl of soup? If you share it, it becomes a scoop of love and laughter, and stories enjoyed over the years in friendship.

In anticipation of the recent winter storm, I delivered a bowl of homemade comfort soup to another senior friend and took her shopping.

The next day, my snow angels sprang into action.

After the snowplow cleared the roads, I found solace in walking my neighbour’s dog, Pumpkin, and enjoying the sunny, winter wonderland scene.

One block from home, much to my surprise, I see another neighbour dashing down her driveway with no coat on and a bowl of soup in her hand.

“I thought you would love a bowl of soup!”

Result? I did cry into my soup!
