Within the last few months, the reconstruction of several major bridges in Ancaster — Wilson and Highway 403, Fiddlers Green and 403, and Southcote and 403 — have gone from being a mild hindrance to being downright intolerable.
The biggest congestion comes from the Fiddlers Green overpass. The backup from the control lights at the bridge play havoc with the vehicles coming off Highway 403 onto Amberly Boulevard and thus cause backups on Fiddlers Green.
I can understand the need for bridge repairs. We have seen the problems in Toronto, with the crumbling concrete falling, but the least those in power could have done was to complete one bridge repair before starting the next.
The Fiddlers Green reconstruction started late last year and I do not believe that I have seen any workers on the overpass since Christmas. It would have been to everyone’s advantage to at least complete this repair before starting Wilson and 403, and then the powers-that-be added insult to injury by starting Southcote and 403.
If these are winter works programs, please complete them this winter, and not make them into a summer works program.
