Re: Hamilton weather comes and goes … on and on (Aug. 7)
Please learn the difference between weather and climate change. Citing snapshots of weather from the relatively recent past does not support nor disprove climate change.
Personally, I side with 97 per cent of climate scientists (experts) who agree that climate change is happening and that it is currently being caused by our unnatural acceleration of the carbon cycle (our rapid burning of fossil fuels).
Over Earth’s history, climate change has happened and will happen again. However, each time it has happened in the past it has been influenced by natural factors such as volcanoes, solar flares, etc. Nearly every climate scientist is in agreement that current climate change is caused by our actions.
There are no conspiracies here. Personally, I applaud the politicians who are listening to these experts and taking action.
It is also important to note that our actions can also help curb the projected negative effects of climate change and present economic opportunities.
