Wrong gear turns Upper James pizza shop into drive thru

A 30-year-old Hamilton woman faces drunk-driving charges after crashing her car into an Upper James pizza restaurant on New Year’s Day.

Hamilton police spokesperson Catherine Martin said the woman was trying back out of a parking spot in front of the pizza shop, located near the corner of Hester Street, at about 3 p.m. when she accidently put her car into drive.

Police were called and the woman was arrested after showing signs of impairment. She blew over the legal booze limit in breath tests at the police station.

Released on a promise to appear in court, she is charged with impaired driving and driving with more than 80 mg alcohol per 100 ml of blood.
