Winter storm prompts cancellations

Old Man Winter isn’t done with us quite yet.

Blowing snow and poor driving conditions have prompted a number of weather-related cancellations across the City of Hamilton on Wednesday.

All Hamilton Public Library locations have closed their doors as of 11:30 a.m. Library programs and events are cancelled for the remainder of the day. Scheduled bookmobile stops are also cancelled.

Most city buildings are closed, including municipal service centres.

McMaster University has closed its campus as of 11:30 today as well. Mohawk College is closed as of 1 p.m. today.

Hamilton International Airport is also anticipating weather-related delays for outgoing flights. For the latest information, travellers should check online.

HSR buses are running, but travellers should expect delays due to snow-covered roads.

The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board has closed all of its administrative and child care facilities. Students in both the public and Catholic boards are already away from school this week for March break.

According to the WeatherNetwork.com, a blowing snow warning is in effect for Hamilton. Up to 15 centimetres of snow are expected.
