First city basketball title since 1978
Westmount knocked off defending champions and west Mountain rival Sir Allan MacNab Friday night for the senior boys public high school championship.
The Wildcats tamed the Lions 65-54 for their first city title since beating Hill Park in the 1977-78 season.
James Miles had 17 points for the Wildcats, Dele Ogundokun had 13 points, Chris Carter had 10, Benjamin Wright added nine Matt Ravida had eight.
Daniel Dzierzawski led the way for the Lions with 21 points. Connor Crocker had 11.
On the junior side, the MacNab Lions three-peated their Hamilton Wentworth Interscholastic Athletic Conference title with a 74-42 romp over the Wildcats. The junior Lions haven’t lost a league game since Westmount beat them in the 2008-09 city title match.
