Staff were fired up and ready to go this morning (Friday), as the Stoney Creek Walmart Supercentre opened its doors at 510 Centennial Pkwy. N.
“It’s a feeling of excitement, really,” store manager Dave Commisso said. “Our associates are elated; they are incredibly proud. They’re a proud bunch with a positive attitude – it’s that never quit attitude – to pull something like this together in eight weeks is truly remarkable.”
The 190,000-square-foot Stoney Creek Walmart Supercentre, which replaces the Walmart discount store opened in 1994 at 75 Centennial Pkwy. N., offers customers a full range of groceries and general merchandise under one roof.
The store provides a hearty serving of baked goods, fresh produce, frozen foods, dairy and meat products, along with a vast selection of apparel, electronics and seasonal merchandise.
Commisso, who began his career with the company as an hourly associate in 1994 and was promoted to store manager in 2004, said Stoney Creek Walmart Supercentre’s easy-to-navigate wider aisles, bigger checkout area and larger parking mean easy-access shopping convenience.
“A one-stop shop is always a major draw for our community; it’s something they always look forward to having,” he said. “This is a store of the community, which we’re quite proud of, basically, catering to a lot of the demographics that we have in the immediate community. Our company does a very good job of assessing what the community is looking for and who’s living in our communities, so we can cater to them better.”
