Upper James Street paving starts Wednesday

On Wednesday, Hamilton’s public works department will begin resurfacing work on Upper James Street from Dickenson Road to Twenty Road as part of the final touches to the new park-and-ride facility at the Mountain Transit Centre.

The work will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday and is expected to take two days.

During this time, one lane will be closed in each direction and delays should be expected, said a public works spokesman.

Hamilton’s first park-and-ride facility will feature 59 parking spaces and a new transit terminal and will promote the use of public transit by permitting the commuter to park their vehicle in an area outside the urban core and not contribute to traffic congestion. The park-and-ride facility is expected to be completed in mid-September.
