Three firearms seized at Concession Street apartment

A 27-year-old Mountain man faces a spate of gun charges after Hamilton police seized three firearms, including a sawed-off shotgun, at a Concession Street apartment.

Sgt. Terri-Lynn Collings said officers were in the area of Concession and East 32nd Street Wednesday afternoon as part of an ongoing investigation into drug and gun activity when they saw their suspect get into a car.

They stopped the car and arrested the suspect. A search discovered some marijuana and brass knuckles.

After getting a search warrant, police entered an apartment unit at Concession Place and seized the sawed-off shotgun, a 12-gauge shotgun and a 22-calibre rifle with the firing pin removed, as well as 13 rounds of shotgun shells.

They also found two dogs, which were turned over to the care of city animal control officers.

The suspect faces eight gun-related charges, including for unauthorized possession and careless storage of the firearms and ammunition, as well as one charge for possession of the prohibited brass knuckles.
