Road resurfacing projects are among more than $3 million in capital upgrades planned for Ancaster in 2013.
The recently approved 2013 capital budget includes phase two resurfacing of Wilson Street, from Halson to Rousseaux Streets. Valued at $500,000, the project does not include major infrastructure improvements such as water mains and sewers. Limited curb and sidewalk upgrades are included in the project, anticipated for completion between July and August.
Central Drive, Orchard Drive and Valleyview Drive will all be resurfaced from Wilson Street to the north end of each street as part of the 2013 roads capital budget. The project in the Parkview Heights area is budgeted at $650,000.
New sidewalks and street lighting will be installed on John Frederick Drive.
The Ancaster Business Park will see a $1.5 million investment to resurface Cormorant Road, Tradewind Drive and Sandhill Drive.
In the city’s culture division, a $220,000 investment has been set aside for repairs to the Ancaster Old Town Hall. In 2012, the historic building received a $133,000 restoration of its original plaster ceiling.
Highway 403 ramp studies in Ancaster and West Hamilton are funded with $250,000. In 2011, the city and Ministry of Transportation reached agreement in principle on a westbound access to the 403 from Mohawk Road.
