Rileys exercising along the brow

Don’t be alarmed this weekend when you see soldiers wandering around the west Mountain.
Up to 80 members of the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry will be taking part in an exercise Friday through Sunday along the brow.
They are also spending several Tuesday nights over the next two months at the old sanatorium on the west Mountain.
The soldiers, dressed in their field uniforms and carrying standard infantry weapons, will be practising fighting in built-up areas as part of their mandated training.
The soldiers, all reservists from Hamilton and Burlington, will be training from about 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. March 6 and March 20. They will have weapons with them and fire blank ammunition occasionally as they practice basic infantry tactics in and around the old buildings.
While many of the soldiers are Afghanistan combat veterans, the training is vital to keep essential battlecraft and teamwork skills sharp.
