Pricy levelers pinched from Taro dump in Stoney Creek

Hamilton police are seeking the public’s help in tracking down the thieves who stole more than $150,000 of highly specialized equipment from the Taro dump in Stoney Creek.

Police spokesperson Catherine Martin said the culprits broke into a pickup truck at the Green Mountain Road site the weekend of Nov. 3-4 and took two cases containing global positioning devices used to help bulldozers level large areas.

The Topcon and Trimble systems are considered very rare and unique, she said.

Police ask anyone with information to call the break, enter and robbery unit at 905-546-3820 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
