Police step up impaired driving enforcement in Ancaster

Hamilton police are raising awareness of impaired driving with a new Problem Oriented Policing (POP) Project in the days leading up to Christmas.  The goal of the project is not to substitute current efforts, but rather to compliment and diversify the strategic approach that the Hamilton Police Service has developed to address impaired driving. The program will initially focus on Ancaster.

For the 12 days and nights leading up to Christmas, motorists should expect to see increased RIDE lanes throughout Ancaster.  Locations and times will vary both day and night.

The Hamilton Police Service encourages the public to have a pre-arranged alternative transportation plan when they choose to consume alcohol.  There are many options, such as calling a taxi, using public transportation or a designated driver.

Anyone who observes an impaired driver is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.
