Police seek help identifying dead Red Hill Valley hiker

Hamilton police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man found dead on the Red Hill Valley Trail Friday afternoon.

Sgt. Terri-Lynn Collings said the man, discovered at 4:30 p.m. on the section near Greenhill Avenue, didn’t have any identification on him. An autopsy concluded he died of natural causes.

He is described as white, 60 to 70 years old, five feet nine to five feet 10 inches tall, 172 pounds, with brown eyes, receding scruffy grey hair and scruffy grey beard.

The man was wearing brown-leather, laced walking shoes, black socks, blue jeans, a brown leather belt, a collared multi-coloured shirt (light and dark blue, green and grey) and a green jacket with blue lining.

He had a yellow and blue “Explorer” backpack containing a beige plastic thermos and an empty, Rubbermaid-type container.

Anyone with information is asked to call the east-end police station at 905-546-2963 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
