A Hamilton police spokesperson says detectives continue to investigate the shooting of a teen early Monday in Stoney Creek as a targeted incident.
“We’re still working through trying to attempt to identify who the suspects are, but at this point, no arrests have been made and we don’t have a description of the suspects to release at this time,” Sgt. Terri-Lynn Collings said Tuesday.
At about 1:30 a.m. Monday, three suspects forced their way into a home at 8 Riviera Ridge and shot a 19-year-old male resident in the home.
The victim was shot twice and taken to Hamilton General Hospital for treatment of serious, but non-life threatening injuries, where he remains.
The suspects fled prior to police arrival.
Collings confirmed that officers seized video footage from the home’s surveillance cameras.
The footage is being examined, she added.
“Certainly if there’s anything of value to us that would assist us in our investigation, we would make sure that we get that out to the public,” Collings said.
Detective Paul Staats told the Hamilton Spectator Monday that he has been unable to speak with the victim, who was still sedated as of press time.
This is not the first time police have been at the home.
“In May of this year, there was a warrant executed at that residence and it was for cocaine,” Staats told the Spectator.
Staats is looking for a link between May’s events and Monday’s.
