Neighbour’s tip leads to arrest of break and enter suspect

An alert neighbour helped police apprehend a suspect in a residential break and enter investigation on Wednesday.

At approximately 7:40 p.m., Hamilton police responded to a home on Quigley Road to investigate reports of a suspicious man inside the residence who does not live there.

An officer observed a man standing outside of the property carrying a duffle bag.  The suspect ran away from the officer, dropping the bag behind him.

The suspect was arrested following a brief foot chase.  The duffle bag contained stolen items, including jewelry, electronics and other miscellaneous items.  All of the stolen property was recovered.

Police have determined the suspect gained entry by kicking in the home’s front door.  He exited through the back door.

A 37-year-old Hamilton resident was held for a bail hearing. He faces break and enter charges along with multiple theft charges.
