Most conservation areas re-open after ice storm

Most Hamilton Conservation Authority sites have re-opened following the Dec. 22 ice storm.

Fifty Point and Confederation Park are now open, but ice is not yet safe enough for skating.

Valens Lake Conservation Area is closed except for ice fishing. No washrooms are available.

Christie Lake Conservation Area is open, but washrooms may be unavailable until electricity is fully restored. The Dundas Valley Trail Centre is open, with full washroom service.

Conservation authority staff advise users that many Mountain conservation areas may not be plowed.

Trail users should exercise caution. Many trails are strewn with fallen trees and branches. Icy trail conditions persist. Hikers are advised to use ice grippers.
