Hamilton police seek man accused of preying on teen boys

Hamilton police are seeking the public’s help in locating a man accused of sexually assaulting teenage boys in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s.

Sgt. Terri-Lynn Collings said Roger Marcotte, now 62, allegedly preyed on vulnerable youths while living in the Bernard Street neighbourhood, located near the corner of Melvin and Parkdale avenues.

The suspect is known to travel in Canada and abroad, and is believed to be living in the Ottawa area, she said.

Marcotte is described as white and five feet eight inches tall, with a thin build and short grey and white hair. He wears glasses and speaks French.

He is charged with four counts each of gross indecency and indecent assault. Police believe there may be more victims and witnesses who have yet to step forward.

Anyone who is a victim or has information on Marcotte’s whereabouts is asked to call Det. Andrea Richard at 905-546-2990 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
