Women groped in Upper Paradise-Stone Church area
Police are looking for a white male in connection with two sexual assaults on the west Mountain this week.
Around 10:25 p.m. on Tuesday, a 19-year-old woman was walking south along Upper Paradise near Stone Church Road when she saw a male riding his bicycle on the northeast side of the street.
Seconds later, police say the cyclist came up from behind and grabbed the woman’s buttocks before peddling off.
The cyclist is described as a while male with a dark complexion and shoulder length hair.
He was wearing a long, black tank top, matching black pants, dark coloured shoes and a black hat and was riding a dark coloured mountain bike.
On Wednesday a 20-year-old woman was walking on the west side of Upper Paradise near Kordun Street around 9:55 p.m. when a male riding a bicycle came up from behind and grabbed her buttocks before fleeing the scene.
Police say a few moments later the victim saw the male suspect a second time riding toward her, but this time the cyclist veered away and disappeared toward WilliamS chwenger Park.
The suspect is described as a white male with a medium build wearing a black hat with a blue stripe, a black t-shirt and jeans.
Police acting staff sergeant Laura Wiltshire said the two women were “possibly” assaulted by the same person.
Police say the assaults are not related to a series of similar incidents on the central-west Mountain between October 2013 and last March that resulted in the arrest of a 14-year-old Hamilton male.
Anyone with information about the assaults is asked to contact police anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Police are urging women who have not reported similar attacks to contact detective David Wide of the sexual assault unit at 905-540-5543.
