Films at Fieldcote winds down with Disney’s Frozen

Films at Fieldcote will screen Disney’s blockbuster Frozen on Friday, Aug. 22, as its final free family outdoor film of this season.

The event takes place at Fieldcote Memorial Park, 64 Sulphur Springs Rd., in Ancaster at dusk (about 8:30 p.m.)  If it rains, the film will screen at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church gym, 31 Sulphur Springs Rd.

On Monday, Aug. 25, Ancaster Film Fest returns for the second part of the 2014 season with the film Belle at Ancaster Silver City at 1, 4 and 7:15 p.m.  Non-members pay $9 at the matinees and $10 at the evening screening.

In Frozen, when a prophecy traps a kingdom in eternal winter, Anna, a fearless optimist, teams up with extreme mountain man Kristoff and his sidekick reindeer Sven on an epic journey to find Anna’s sister Elsa. Bring your blankets or lawn chairs and snacks and enjoy a night with your family under the stars watching and singing along with this wonderful movie.  The screening is free but non-perishable items will be given to Ancaster Community Services for distribution to those in need.  Thanks to our sponsor for the evening, John Vitulli Jr of Brown Vitulli LLP.

The film Belle was inspired by the true story of Dido Elizabeth Belle, the illegitimate mixed race daughter of a Royal Navy Admiral. Raised by her aristocratic great-uncle and his wife, Belle’s lineage affords her certain privileges, yet the color of her skin prevents her from fully participating in the traditions of her social standing.

The Ancaster Film Fest is a member of the Toronto International Film Festival’s Film Circuit, a group of some 160 organizations showing the best of Canadian and international films to communities across Canada.  Proceeds from the screening of Belle will be given to local charities and service organizations.
