17th annual Concession Street event starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday
Say good bye to summer and hello to autumn.
The 17th annual Concession Street Fall Fest goes from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Royal Bank parking lot.
“It’s our annual Neighbour to Neighbour food drive,” said Betty Toplack, a long-time Concession Street business owner and member of the BIA board of management, who figures as many as 3,000 people will attend the event, given good weather. “It’s a nice way to start our fall activities.”
Toplack said anyone who brings a food donation will receive a free hot-buttered cob of corn and organizers expect to sell or give away as many as 1,000 cobs of freshly-picked, locally grown corn during the event.
Corn husking competitions will be held in the parking lot throughout the day.
There will also be a variety of music and other entertainment along with horse and wagon rides and a number of health and wellness-related exhibits by some street business owners.
