Elusive Mountain driver blows double booze limit

A 55-year-old Hamilton man blew more than twice the legal booze limit after initially ignoring police efforts to pull his car over on the east Mountain.

Const. Debbie McGreal-Dinning said police were alerted to a suspected impaired driver going up the Sherman Access at about 8 p.m. on Monday and located the car near the corner of Upper Gage Street and Fennell Avenue.

Officers forced the vehicle to stop after the driver initially refused to pull over. The driver was arrested and released on a promise to appear in court on charges of impaired driving and driving with more than 80mg alcohol per 100ml of blood.
