Dundas Blues fell behind Grimsby three game to one after two weekend losses in the best of seven Niagara District Junior C Hockey semi-final.
At home Sunday night, Dundas couldn’t get its offense running. Grimsby scored one goal each period en route to a 3-0 win and a two game lead in the series.
Two nights earlier, Grimsby found the net quickly – scoring twice within the first two and a half minutes. The home team went up 3-0 by the midway point of the opening period.
Tyler Jones got Dundas on the board before the end of the frame assisted by Dan Pelosini, and Matt Johnson.
Dundas scored the only goal of the second period – from Pelosini, assisted by Brayden Knott and Chad Carey – to close the gap to 3-2.
In the third period, Grimsby scored two and a half minutes in, and held on to the two goal lead. When Dundas pulled the goalie for an extra attacker, Grimsby capped the win with an empty net goal.
Game five is set for Wednesday, Feb. 26 in Grimsby and Game six – if necessary – at Dundas’ J.L. Grightmire Arena at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27. If Dundas can force a seventh and deciding game, it is scheduled for Sunday, March 2 in Grimsby.
