Kevin Jaczenko had two points, as the Dundas Blues beat Chippawa Riverhawks 4-2 Monday night to take their first round Niagara District Junior C East Division hockey playoff series four games to two.
Dundas advances after taking a three games to none lead, then dropping two straight as Chippawa battled back to force a fifth and sixth game.
Chippawa took a 1-0 lead in the first period, but Dundas responded in the second period with goals from Matt Charbonneau and Mitch Reid – assisted by Jaczenko and Nick McMullen – to carry a 2-1 lead into the third period.
Jaczenko scored with just over a minute left in the third period to give Dundas what seemed like an insurmountable 3-1 lead with 60 seconds to play. Chippawa made it 3-2 just five seconds later, but Derek Searle closed the series scoring Dundas’ fourth goal with a second left on the clock.
