Driver charged after hit-and-run sends woman to hospital

A 30-year-old Toronto driver faces two charges for failing to stop after her car hit a pedestrian who was crossing Main Street West by the Fortinos plaza on Rifle Range Road.

Const. Debbie McGreal-Dinning said Hamilton police were called to the intersection at about 8:45 p.m. on Feb. 26 to investigate the collision, which sent a 20-year-old Newmarket woman to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the car had sped off but returned to the intersection, where she was arrested. Held for a bail hearing, she is charged with failing to remain at an accident and criminal negligence.

Police continue their investigation.
